Favoris>Europe Fall-Winter 2005-2006
Cover by Olivo Barbieri
For the cover and insert images we gave "carte blanche" to Olivo Barbieri.
Born in 1954 in Carpi (Modena, Italy), he began to show his work in 1978.
In 1993 he took part in the most prestigious international events devoted to visual arts.
In 2003 he started to work on the project Site Specific. This work in progress about various places of the planet (Rome, Shanghai, Las Vegas, Montreal, Amman...) shows places of the world as if they were temporary installations, making them seem almost unreal...
These models question the way we relate to landscapes, history and the surrealist life of the great urban centres.
Thanks to a particular focus, Olivo Barbieri turns his aerial pictures into dreamlike and poetic works.
The images of the cover and the dividers in this edition of Favoris>Europe were made for the international festival of Rome and for the gallery Brancolini Grimaldi Artecontemporanea.
