The Mission of Daelim Contemporary Art Museum is to promote excellence and achievement in the artistic community of the Seoul City area. As a photograph- specialized museum, Daelim Contemporary Art Museum presents a variety of modern photograph artworks to the people in this area and develops remarkable and young domestic and international artists.
Daelim Contemporary Art Museum is currently housed in a former private
residence in the Tongy-Dong residential district of Seoul. French architect, Vincen Cornu, designed and planned the remodeling of the house in 2001. Mr.Cornu is an internationally recognized specialist in museum design, and joined the principal architect behind the redevelopment of the Picasso Museum in Paris. The building is designed, considering the fact that photographs are very sensitive to light, temperature, and humidity since Daelim Contemporary Art Museum is a photograph-specialized museum. On the other hand, Mr. Cornu
integrated elements from traditional Korean culture such as fabrics and window frames with modern construction so that the museum itself is a work of art.
