The history of tea is directly linked to the history of the tea-cup becoming an aesthetic object. Ceramics from the twelfth to the twenty-first century – tea-cups from the MAK Collection from China, Korea, Japan as well as loans from private collections – demonstrate that diversity was discovered in the reduction of form to its essentials. This idea is taken up in the installation “ Door of Eternity” by Heinz Frank, which can be seen in the center of the room. |

As part of its contemporary art programme and in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou, the Musée Rodin opens a presentation cycle that will cover three years, devoted to the video artist who, between 1960 and 1970, sought to emphasize the relation to the body in their artistic practice, particulary through performance. The first session will be presented at the Hôtel Biron from January 5th through March 28th, 2010. One by one, four filmed works by an artist whose approach contributed to the bases of “historic contemporary art” will be presented. |

Lace in Translation will be the first exhibition produced by The Design Center in conjunction with its new interpretive initiative, The Fabric of Philadelphia.
