To celebrate one hundred and fifty years of diplomatic relations between France and Japan, the Musée d'Orsay presents an ensemble of decorative pieces representative of the artistic relationship that united the two countries during the second half of the 19th century.
Pride of place is given to two dinner services produced by François-Eugène Rousseau. The decoration by Félix Bracquemond and Henri Lambert, based on Japanese prints, is considered to be one of the best examples of Japonism in western ceramics.
