until sunday october 19 2008

Some Ideas on Living in London and Tokyo
until sunday october 26 2008
communication@cca.qc.ca

Due to their scale, extensive built environment, and existing efforts to grow the city from within, London and Tokyo face similar urban development issues but occupy cultural contexts in which themes of proximity, privacy, community, and public space take on different meanings and require distinct solutions. |

The exhibition “Formless Furniture” shows that the rule “form follows material” was also applied – and still is – in the design of everyday objects: to this day, designers playfully oppose the so-called good form and the marketing of conformity in living environments. |

This is the first exhibition devoted exclusively to his unique body of jewelry work, and consists of approximately one hundred objects, including necklaces, bracelets, brooches, earrings, and tiaras. |

Washington: Symbol and City
until saturday december 31 2011
Exhibitions Coordinator
Visitor services
Created by the government, for the government, Washington was bound to differ from other American cities. Here, the local needs that all cities share—for housing, transportation, water and power utilities, commercial centers, and community institutions—vie directly with national priorities. More than half a million residents now live in the District, in more than 100 neighborhoods. This exhibition explores how residents experience the city and how Washington itself expresses the tension between the demands of a working seat of government and the desire for a national symbol, and the hopes and needs of an evolving city. |
