YOSHIYO, originally founded as a jewelry line by Yoshiyo Abe in 2012, launched its first clothing collection for Fall & Winter 2015.
Subsequent to her career at a New York-based collection brand in the United States, Abe began creating jewelry as a consequence of her fascination with the beauty of Japan’s craftsmanship that is conceived by the hands of its artisans.
Based in Tokyo, Abe has continued to present her collection of costume jewelry since 2009 with the concept of “bringing together the old and the new.” (This currently existsas a separate line)
YOSHIYO fundamentally retains the same philosophy as its costume jewelry brand.
In the process of shifting from costume jewelry materials (brass, glass, cotton pearls) to materials for producing clothing (Japanese woven silk created by the now rare method of using traditional looms, cotton fabrics and prints produced through original techniques), it presents a collection that “brings together the old and the new.”
In 2012, YOSHIYO exclusively unveiled its capsule collection of 18K and Silver jewelry at 10 Corso Como Comme des Garcons in Aoyama. YOSHIYO has collaborated with Robert Clergerie, and also works with establishments such as Le Bon Marche and Dover Street Market GINZA.
