He revists today the Pinocchio myth, dream character created in 1883 by the Florentine writer Carlo Collodi (1826-1890). Jim Dine likes the psychology of Pinocchio, the disobedience of the marionette and its innocence because itcorre- sponds to what he is: “Thanks to Carlo Collodi, I have been able to live through this wooden boy for many years. His illimited ability to slip on metaphores has nourished my drawings, my paintings and my sculputures” … That has been in me since I was six, like a landscape.Sixty-four years, it is a long time to know someone, but the depth of its personality and its secrets are so big”.
