76 Modem Women’s Milano Modem Women’s Paris Fall-Winter 2006-2007 Editions dedicated to Nicolas Bourriaud and Jerôme Sans PALAIS DE TOKYO 2006 For this edition of Modem we gave carte blanche to the Palais de Tokyo in Paris to pay tribute to the work accomplished by Nicolas Bourriaud and Jerôme Sans , designers and directors of this “site of contemporary creation”, initiated in 1999 by Catherine Trautmann , then Minister of Culture, and inaugurated in January 2002. Nicolas Bourriaud, Jérôme Sans and the team of the Palais de Tokyo have succee- ded, at the dawn of the 21st century, in an original and revolutionary experience by transforming an exhibition space of contemporary art into a multidisciplinary space. An Art Center open until midnight, animated every day by conferences, debates, performances, screenings, concerts, festivals, literary presentations, Fashion and Design events ... A place with a bookshop, artistic objects, a cafeteria and a restaurant where artists, intellectuals and students can “order” from the deejay music standarts. A “cultural ship” on board of which, among the various activities, the “ Tok Tok Workshops ” on Wednesday developed a new approach, playful and didactic between Art and the world of childhood The mandate of Nicolas Bourriaud and Jérôme Sans ends with the exhibition : “ Notre Histoire ... an emerging French artistic scene” (images selection in Modem cover and dividers ) ART CENTER
