BIOGRAPHICAL CATALOG OF THE MODEM'S COVERS AUTHORS

2004 DESIGNER 88 Modem Women’s Milano Modem Women’s Paris Fall-Winter 2004-2005 Covers by MATALI CRASSET Matali Crasset (1965, Chalons en Champagne) is a French industrial designer, who sees design as a research, working from an off-centred position: serving daily routines and tracing future scenarios. She questions the obviousness of codes so as to facilitate her breaking these bonds, with both a knowledgeable and naive view of the world. She collaborates with eclectic universes, from the handicraft to the electronic music, from the scenography to the furniture, from the graphics to the interior architecture. Matali Crasset recieved a diploma at Les Ateliers de l’Ecole Nationale Supérieu- re de Création Industrielle. Throughout her work, she developes new typologies expressed in principes as the modularity, the appropriation, the flexibility, the network. One of her significant works “ Quand Jim monte à Paris ” (When Jim goes up to Paris) is based on a mere visual and conscious perception which she invents another relation to the everyday space and objects. Because her proposals are never towards a simple improvement of what already exists but, without rushing things, Crasset ’s works are presented in numerous public collections in France and abroad: Center Pompidou, the Museum of Decorative Arts of Paris 3, National Center of Plastic Arts, Municipal Fund of Contemporary Art of the City of Paris, FRAC Nord Pas de Calais, a foreign artist at the MoMA4, Art Institute Chigao, Mudac in Lausanne (Switzerland), Indianapolis Museum of art, Grand Hornu (Belgium), MAK Wien (Austria), among others.
