First off-schedule show

Tuesday, March 8th, Hôtel de Gesvres

« I love well-mannered ballerinas », says René Storck the day after his show. That’s why the woman of his imagination wears her hair tied back tight in a low bun. She has the grace of a classical dancer and a “daily live” elegance, comfortable and calm: no heels, audacious tops or showy accessories… Her femininity expresses itself in a kind of severity combined with restrained emotions. German-style?! “For my first show, I was determined to make no compromises with the quality of my fabrics - Italian cashmere, German jersey, cotton, silk, plucked mink…– or with the finishing of my garments, the designer maintains. I absolutely didn’t want to follow the trend.” But, ooops, he’s right smack in the middle of it ! … His soft yet austere aesthetics somehow reminds us of Damir Doma. This fashion evokes the silhouettes that were (re)updated by the founders of Encens Magazine, who are close to and collaborate with Christophe Lemaire (Hermès)… It is a good indication of how high his standards are…“It all started with Madeleine Vionnet-style shoulders. We wanted to give the shoulders volume, but without padding.” From this ensued subtle necklines, round, cape-like yet belted coats, but also full, baggy skirts and 80’s pants. These lines and proportions give a more contemporary feeling to this classical looking collection.
For his first time out, René Storck struck hard. The atmosphere was kind of emotional among his team, used to more commercial collections, as they rushed to execute their boss’ dearest wish: to show in Paris. This dream came true thanks to an investor. René Storck had to wait 15 years before meeting a financial partner who would believe in his approach to fashion. The latter stayed anonymous and made things possible, finally: a 200 square meter boutique opened on Goethestrasse (the equivalent of parisian Faubourg Saint Honoré in Frankfurt), where he honed his style. In 2009, he began to sell to retailers after his first presentation at the Hôtel de Crillon and after participating in German trade shows (FW Munich, CDP Dusseldorf). He then entered the sphere of high fashion with his first real catwalk show. Now he has to keep on shining.
