Fashion Week

The New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 sessions is dedicated to The National September 11 Memorial

Dear friends,

On September 11, 2011 America saw the biggest terrorist attack of its history. On this day in New York, the main target of the attacks, Fashion Week was also running. Ten years have passed but the city still bears a stigma.

The National September 11 Memorial is an hommage to nearly 3000 victims of the terrorist attacks of the World Trade Center, of Shanksville (Pennsylvania) and of the Pentagon of September 11, 2001, but also to the 6 individuals killed during the attacks on the World Trade Center in February 1993.

Architect, Michael Arad, and landscaper Peter Walker have come up with the Memorial. The twin fountains are situated in the space which was once occupied by the Twin Towers. Each measures half a hectare and together they boast the largest man-made waterfalls in North America.

The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.

Modem joins the action led by the Institution which raises funds aimed at the Memorial's construction.
