Prize Giving

25 London-based, emerging fashion designers selected by the British Fashion Council (BFC) to present their Spring/Summer 2012 collections.

Since 1993, NEWGEN has provided an internationally recognised programme that scouts and identifies new talents before offering them the necessary sponsorship to crack the London fashion scene. The scheme, in association with Topshop, has become a key draw for the international fashion media and buyers in attendance at London Fashion Week, having sponsored Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson, Boudicca, Giles Deacon, Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, Richard Nicoll, Erdem, Mary Katrantzou and Meadham Kirchhoff in the past.

Announced in February 2011, the winning designers who are showing their Spring/Summer 2012 collections in association with the project:

Catwalk sponsorship: David Koma, Holly Fulton, Louise Gray (image) and Michael van der Ham.

Presentation sponsorship: Christopher Raeburn, Craig Lawrence, Dominic Jones, J.W. Anderson and Nasir Mazhar.

Installation sponsorship: Jordan Askill and SISTER by SIBLING.

Exhibition sponsorship: Felicity Brown, J. JS Lee, James Long, Palmer//Harding, Thomas Tait and Tim Soar Woman.

Catwalk sponsorship winners have received financial support towards their show costs as well as the opportunity to use the BFC Catwalk Show Space, while others were allocated sponsored presentation or exhibition space to showcase their collections. This offers an important introduction for young UK-based designers to influential press and buyers from around the world.

Elsewhere, NEWGEN MEN, a relatively younger project that was started in 2009, has recognised emerging menswear designers and offered the following candidates sponsorship for their Spring/Summer 2012 collections:

Catwalk sponsorship: Christopher Shannon and James Long.

Salon Show Presentation sponsorship: J.W. Anderson, Lou Dalton and New Power Studio.

Installation sponsorship: Dr Noki, Katie Eary and SIBLING.

London Fashion Week runs from Friday 16th September – Wednesday 21st September 2011, with the Wednesday dedicated to menswear fashion.

The BFC Catwalk Show space is located at Somerset House, Strand WC2.
