Tradeshow
A focus on the collaboration between Pitti Immagine and NOT JUST A LABEL, taking place from September 24 to 26, 2011.
NOT JUST A LABEL (NJAL) is a leading online platform, which showcases and thus supports contemporary fashion designers and is participating for the first time in an international fashion fair. The site-specific project is organised in association with Pitti Immagine and will give eight designers the opportunity to present their SpringSummer 2012 collections at one of three designer womenswear fairs launched by Pitti Immagine - Touch!, neoNone or cloudnine – to an international audience of buyers and press.
Touch! is a frontier of feminine elegance: very characteristic style – experiments, eclectics and overturning of canons. neoZone is where contemporary chic meets luxury sportswear, with collections that present a mix of attitude and elegance. cloudnine is the world of accessories, with experimentalism, creativity and tradition. Unusual, design and artisan accessories, destined to launch new trends. Pitti Immagine organises the three interconnected fairs, which focus on capsule collections, research and experimentation with emerging names and their innovations. Both Pitti Immagine and NJAL believe in emerging talent, for their pioneering spirit within contemporary womenswear and accessories design.
The selected designers:
Angela Bang, a Barcelona based designer, whose Fringed collection represents freedom of movement and the playfulness of the body.
Eleanor Amoroso, who launched her label in London, where she is based, upon the attention she attracted for her handcrafted graduate collection.
Fanny and Jessy, a duo who graduated the London College of Fashion, having moved from Somerset; their clothes have been worn by a handful of celebrity performers.
Howitsweissbach, a team of two German designers whose Leipzig based label works conceptually with a unique style, producing clothes, footwear and accessories.
Juliaandben, made up of two Esmod graduates, the label focuses on a balance between commercial and conceptual, classic and avant-garde, mixing glamour with Berlin street style.
Pedro Pedro, launched in 1998, the designer studied at the Academia de Moda do Porto and strives to create clothes which allow women to feel confident with an edge.
Reality Studio, under the creative direction of German designer, Svenja Specht, whose design combines multicultural influences and an androgynous elegance for unique but wearable collections.
Veronica B. Vallenes, a prize-winning designer from Copenhagen who juxtaposes elegance with an edge through varied points of reference.
