Fashion Week
The 30th Edition of Portugal Fashion starts in Lisbon on the 21st of March and continues in Porto from the 22nd to 24th March 2012.
Moreover, "Cross" is the theme of this edition of Portugal Fashion, which refers to an idea of moving between different points and realities.
For the first time, the opening of the event will take place in Lisbon, an option that, as explained by the president of ANJE, Francisco Maria Balsemão: “fits into the innovative and dynamic cosmopolitan nature of Portugal Fashion, which, although based in Porto, has had, throughout its history, editions in cities across the country and has a strong international dimension”.
The opening of the 30th Portugal Fashion will start with fashion shows of young creators at Espaço BLOOM. Then, still at ‘MUDE’, Felipe Oliveira Batista’s fashion show will take place (the designer who took over the artistic direction of Lacoste in September 2010). On the same night but at the "Sociedade Geográfica de Lisboa", Portugal Fashion closes the first day with the fashion show of the duo Alves/Gonçalves.
Portugal Fashion continues on the 22nd to the 24th of March at the ‘Edifício da Alfândega’ in Porto.
Special focus is on: the "Manuels" fashion show that takes place exclusively in Portugal Fashion; the usual irreverence of Felipe Oliveira Baptista; the collection of Fátima Lopes, who was a hit in Paris; and Luis Buchinho, who in addition to author pieces will present, premiering at the event, the proposals of his knitwear line ‘Knitwear’.
In addition to established names, the Portugal Fashion program includes nine young designers at Espaço BLOOM, an informal runway where the creativity of new talents translates into daring and original fashion performances.
With the purpose of disseminating the work of young artists, the Portugal Fashion Design Contest has been organized, which continues the Programa Aliança, which had the same objectives. The four finalists will then have the opportunity to present their works at Espaço BLOOM. At the time, and taking into consideration the works proposed in the runway, the winner of the contest will be determined.
This edition is marked by the presentation of new collections by the duo Alves/Gonçalves, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Luis Buchinho, Miguel Vieira, Fátima Lopes, Luis Onofre, Carlos Gil, Katty Xiomara, Storytailors and Júlio Torcato.
Portugal Fashion is a project of the responsibility of ANJE - National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, developed in partnership with ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, and currently funded by QREN, under the Program Compete - Operational Programme of Competitiveness Factors.
