On July 16th and 17th, the Inspiramais event took place in São Paulo, at the Frei Caneca Convention Center, welcoming press and buyers around the world to provide them with the latest Winter 2015 seasonal trends, and also feature a preview of Summer 2016, with a focus on design, technology and sustainability.

Meant as a true inspirational and business platform for Brazilian fabric, components and accessory suppliers, Inspiramais is one of the main sources of information for the fashion production chain in Brazil and organized by Assinteca (the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear, and Manufactured Goods), Footwear Components by Brasil, and the CICN (Center of Brazilian Tanning Industries).

In addition to the various supplier stands at the fair, Inspiramais provides various platforms to promote genuinely Brazilian fashion, but also projects and panel talks that appeal foreign markets, including an Inspirations Forum coordinated by fashion designer Walter Rodrigues, Buyer Project, Mix by Brasil, Inovamais, Leather Preview, Business Missions, Brazilian References, Business Rounds, and Creation Workshop, among others.

In this sense, with his team of fashion experts, Rodrigues proposed an innovative approach of culture through fashion, by mixing artisanal heritage with technological know-how, while announcing the upcoming Winter 2015 trends for fabrics and surface design, as well as for accessory components.

“Our cultural and ethnical diversity is something that can be easily translated into fashion,’’ said Rodrigues during the fair. ‘’And this creative identity process, mixed with our take on technological innovation, can make our fashion stronger and thus more desirable on the international market.”

And indeed, due to its genuine aspect, which merges both, cultural references and premium materials, Brazilian fashion has experienced a considerable growth in the past years. In fact, according to official data provided by ABIT in 2012, the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association, the country’s fashion sector is quite notable: Brazil is the fifth largest textile producer in the world and the second largest for denim, with a garment sector that consists of about 32,600 firms that produce around 9.8 billion pieces every year. The textile sector is the second largest employer in the country, the fourth largest exporter in the world and is expecting a 2 per cent rise in production this year. With such data, Brazil is undoubtedly a strong actor of the international fashion and textile industry—and Inspirimais, one of the country’s fairs that shows the Brazilian fashion industry at its best.
