Anish Kapoor is staging a solo-show in Versailles, Paris, from June to October 2015. The Bombay-born London-based artist has won the prestigious Turner Prize in 1991 and the Praemium Imperiale in 2011. “It’s not easy to choose an artist for Versailles,” said Catherine Pégard, the palace’s Chief Administrator. “It’s not a museum, or a gallery or an exhibition space.” Famous for his large scale installations such as Maryas, which was featured at Tate’s Turbine Hall in 2002, Kapoor is expected to interact with the historical settings in a very special way. The ongoing series of solo shows at the famous French palace have previously featured the work of renowned contemporary artists, including Jeff Koons, Giuseppe Penone and Takashi Murakami.
