On the occasion of the Berlin Fashion Week, the fashion trade-show Premium and Seek teamed up with the conference organization re :publica, in order to host the first ever #FASHIONTECH conference on January 20th. The initiative will bring together fashion and technology experts, who will investigate the relationship between the two fields.

‘The line between fashion and technology has been visibly blurring for a while now and this is a very exciting trend. We have organized #FASHIONTECH in order to provide an appropriate platform for key from the technology and fashion industries to get know one another,’ said Anita Tillmann, Founder, Owner and Managing Director of Premium Exhibitions, in an official release. In fact, #FASHIONTECH aims to investigate this ever-growing intersection of fashion and technology through a program of meetings, debates and workshops focused on the combination of fashion know-how with technological expertise.

Tillmann further added that the digitalization of the global information and the creation of smart clothing allowed the fashion industry to develop and promote new technologies. In this context, fashion companies are now embracing new business models and marketing strategies to promote their brands in the digital world, through apps and social networks. Furthermore, young and established fashion designers are experimenting with wearable technologies and responsive tech-textiles to create functional products with an appealing design.

Pioneers of the wearable-tech scene will be presenting their projects and practices during the event, which will be attended by artists, designers, journalists, and representatives of established fashion and technology companies, such as Matt Heising of Adidas, and Nikolaus Roettger of Wired, among other participants. The conference held on January 20th is a prelude of a series of talks focused on the digital future of fashion business, which will be staged during the 2015 edition of re :publica from May 5th to 7th. The second edition of #FASHIONTECH is set to take place during next Berlin Fashion Week, in July 2015.
