On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the USM Modular Furniture Haller will inaugurate the exhibition Rethink the Modular, on show during Milano Design Week 2015 at Salone dei Tessuti, from April 14th to 19th, 2015.

With this special showcase, the German design firm aims to investigate the role of modularity in contemporary design and architecture where flexibility is highly valued. Focusing on how the concept of modularity is perceived by young generations of designers, USM Modular Furniture Haller organized an intense 6-months workshop in which design students and alumni from the world's top design schools looked into modularity. Rethink the Modular will now present their experimental projects to the general public, alongside historical works of design and architecture.

Rethink the modular rediscovers the modular as the vision for communicative structures. The communicative aspects of modularity that the USM Master Classes are focused on are divided in three chapters structure, interference and rhythm. The fourth chapter, relation moves beyond these, and explores the historical background of modular thinking.

The extensive event program accompanying the exhibition includes talks, performance as well as debates with international guests such as the artist Nathalie du Pasquier, design blogger Catherine Rossi and the architect Antonio Scarponi, among many others.
