Cathrine Raben Davidson, The Ritual, 2015

The Paris-based art gallery dedicated to the promotion of Northern European artists will host its second exhibition entitled Too Much of A Good Thing from May 28th to June 7th, 2015.

Featuring 10 up-and-coming artists from Denmark, Norway and Sweden, the showcase is based on the Scandinavian ideal of a good life — the status quo standards promoted by mainstream media and adopted by society — in order to reflect the actual discrepancy between this myth and the citizens’ real life. The exhibition, which includes paintings, sculptures, drawings and videos, therefore offers a reflection on today’s over-saturation, while providing a meaningful insight into controversial society standards. Too Much of A Good Thing is in fact a creative attempt to break down hierarchies, while expressing the fragile harmony of contrasts; where high culture meets low culture, polished meets raw and natural meets clinical.

Founded in 2014 by Andreas Emenius and Jacob Valdemar, Nordic Contemporary serves as a launchpad for contemporary Scandinavian artists. With an exhibition schedule of three group shows per year, the gallery aims to give international visibility to Scandinavian creativity.
