The 31st Biennial of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana takes place from August 29th to December 3rd, 2015.

Curated by Nicola Lees, the showcase celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Biennial of Graphic Arts, which is the world's oldest existing biennial of its kind. Over you / you, the title of the event, refers to a drawing by Martin Kippenberger and explores sociopolitical themes associated to graphic arts. The exhibition focuses on how reproduction techniques are used by visual artists as communication strategies, and how they also improve the flow of information. The biennial also focuses on the countless possible interpretations of the concept of picture reproduction, while paying homage to its rich history and pioneering role in the visual art field. The showcase features the works of over 40 local and international artists, including a considerable number of new commissions. The event also includes and exhibition by the Cuban-American artist María Elena González, which is currently on display at Gallery of Cankarjev Dom.

Founded in 1955, the Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana is the first graphic arts biennial to encompass all printmaking techniques. The graphic medium was adopted by the biennial in order to cross international borders without political restrictions. By focusing on the latest technological developments, the Biennial goes beyond the simple printmaking medium and includes various forms of artistic expression.
