Ritt Bjerregaard, mayor of Copenhagen, asked the Danish-Icelandic artist to design a bridge for the capital city of Denmark.

Eliasson sees a partly transparent structure, made of five circular platforms, each one presenting a central mast, inspired of mastheads and cordages of old sailboats.

The artist has worked on several projects combining art and architecture. He partly designed for example the façade of Reykjavik concert hall currently under construction, the Serpentine Pavillon in London.

The project, called Cirkelbroen, should end in 2012.
