The British Fashion Council has announced the nominees for the 2016 edition of Bfa - British Fashion Awards, sponsored for the third consecutive year by Swarovski. The event, which will held next 5 December in the new location of the Royal Albert Hall in London, will honor the most outstanding personalities who have distinguished themselves in the British and international fashion system. And, for the first time, during the annual Fashion Awards gala, it will be raised money for the BFC Fashion Education Foundation, a project that offers to brilliant young students the change to earn a scholarship to follow educational paths through BAs and MAs courses (the Master of Arts scholarship recipients for 2016, announced last October, are Cassandra Verity Green, Cavan McPherson, Geraint Brian Lewis and Yasemin Cakli).

Alessandro Michele and Christopher Kane are competing for multiples recognitions, together with Jonathan Anderson. The Northern Irish designer and creative director of Loewe since 2014, who triumphed at the kermesse 2015 in both menswear and womenswear categories, gets 4 nominations at Bfa this year, including international accessories and ready-to-wear designer of the Spanish label owned by the Lvmh group. To compete for the international designer will be also
Alessandro Michele, Riccardo Tisci and Demna Gvasalia.

Roksanda Illincic, Simone Rocha and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen are nominated in the British womenswear designer category, while Tom Ford and Dame Vivienne Westwood are among the nominations for British menswear designer.
Stella McCartney and Burberry compete for Best British brand, while Italians Marco Bizzarri - ceo of Gucci - and Stefano Sassi - chief executive officer of Valentino - are up for international business leader. One of the new categories, international urban luxury brand, in reference to the importance of streetwear and urban, sees among the finalists Gosha Rubchinskiy, Off-White and Vetements.

“It’s an incredible achievement and a very well-deserved recognition for their achievements this year. The shortlisted nominees prove the incredible talent we are so fortunate to work with both at home and abroad,” Dame Natalie Massenet, Chairman of the BFC said in a statement. “This year’s ceremony will be thrilling and I look forward to welcoming all our guests to London and to what has become one of the most-anticipated highlights of the global fashion calendar.”

Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, added that the Fashion Awards can be considered as “a truly global celebration of creative talent from Britain and beyond which underlines London’s role as a home of innovation in the industry”.

Additional 5 special awards (Creative Influencer, Outstanding Achievement Award, Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, Special Recognition Award e Swarovski Award for Positive Change) will be announced before the event.
