The company homonym has received the “Carbon Neutral” certification, testifying to the ecological value of this approach, as no carbon dioxide is produced during the production phase of Alcantara®.

Aesthetics for ethics

The beauty and elegance of this material – which links the sensory (softness and comfort) with the practical (easy upkeep, resistance), is now further enriched with an ethical value. This soul supplement that Alcantara conveys today enables the company to play an important role in the redefining of luxury codes which can no longer be dissociated with ethical concerns and respect for the environment.

A new challenge: Zero Carbon

As stated by Andrea Boragno, president and associate director of Alcantara S.p.A., “We have set ourselves an ambitious objective which has today become an absolute priority, that is to reduce our CO2 emissions from the “cradle” (use of the raw material) to the “door” (delivery of our material to the limit of our responsibility) to zero.”
“Carbon Neutral” is a target to be reached through a dual approach: reduce emissions as much as possible and compensate for the remainder, in international projects aimed at producing sustainable energies (hydro-electricity and wind turbine energy) in India, Honduras and New Zealand.
This commitment is all the more significant because it is a question of choice, and not any legal obligation.
The TUV, an international institution in charge of monitoring each of Alcantara’s operations, has recognised the importance of these measures which give the economic stakes an ethical and cultural value.
