UNITED STATES / Fashion Brand Telfar is Named the 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award Winner

Telfar Clemens’ New York- based label named Telfar was named the 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner, receiving the top prize of $400,000. The two runner-ups: Becca McCharen-Tran’s of Chromat, and Ahlem Manai-Platt’s of Ahlem who were each rewarded $150,000, they will all be further supported by an industry mentor. The announcement was made earlier this month at the gala dinner held in Brooklyn supported by JD.com, who introduced this year JD Fashion to support and recognise the value in emerging American designers within the Chinese fashion community.

The winners were selected by the 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Selection Committee featuring 2011 CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund winner Joseph Altuzarra, Nicole Phelps, Eva Chen and Roopal Patel returning judges include Steven Kolb, Mark Holgate, Jeffrey Kalinsky, Andrew Rosen and CFDA Chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg. Diane von Furstenberg explained that the group of ten finalists were more diverse, talented and represent the future of fashion in America.

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion fund launched a business training program where each finalist was given 10 minutes to pitch their business to potential investors who provided feedback.
