Andrea Büttner has won Max Mara Art Prize | Modem Mag

Artist Andrea Büttner has won the third edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women.

The all-female jury included Whitechapel director Iwona Blazwick, artist Fionna Banner, gallerist Alison Jacques, and art collector Valeria Napoleone.

Büttner will receive a six-month residency in Italy to develop an exhibition to be shown at the Whitechapel Gallery in 2011, with the possibility that it will be purchased thereafter by the Collezione Maramotti, the art collection of fashion house Max Mara.

Andrea Büttner has won the prize, beating out fellow short-listed artists Becky Beasley and Elizabeth Price.
