For the third installment of Hyères encore, the Galerie des Galeries and villa Noailles are pleased to present "Picaflor", a show by the designer Kris Van Assche.

The artistic director of Dior homme as well as the head of his own brand, Van Assche has sought to synthesize his creative inf luences while questioning such essential notions as beauty, freedom and the means of reconciling them.

"Picaflor" is made up of twelve giant f lower-mirrors perched on metal tripods. An interactive mechanism offers visitors the chance to plunge into each f lower and discover the many facets of Van Assche’s world through images, sounds and odors.

For the new "Picaf lor" display at the Galerie des Galeries, Van Assche also wanted to show, besides the flower-mirror installation, a piece by the American artist Matt Saunders. Invited by Van Assche to his Women’s Fashion Spring/Summer 2010 show, Saunders created works blending the on-stage and back-stage worlds. Some of these pieces are to be published in the magazines Sang Bleu and Londerzeel.
The portraits of the twentytwo women who modeled for Van Assche that day will also be on display in the Galerie des Galeries, echoing the flower-mirrors of "Picaflor" An animated film created by Saunders from these portraits will be featured in the Galerie display window on Rue de la Chaussée d’Antin.
