After "la Mécanique des dessous" (2013) and "Tenue correcte exigée !"(2017), the Museum of Decorative Arts continues the exploration of the relationship between the body and fashion with a third surprising component, the walk and the gait.
The exhibition "Marche et démarche", from November the 7th 2019 to February the 23rd 2020, questions the status of this indispensable accessory of everyday life by investigating the different ways of walking, from the Middle Ages to the present day; both in the Western world that in non-European cultures.
Nearly 500 works: shoes, paintings, photographs, works of art, films and commercials, from French and foreign public and private collections, will offer an unusual reading of a piece of clothing that is sometimes innocuous and sometimes extraordinary. The scenography was curated by the architect/designer Eric Benqué.
