ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN ART AND CINEMA
A JOINT EXHIBITION AT THE PINAKOTHEK DER MODERNE

The exhibition CREATING REALITIES – Encounters between Art and Cinema takes a closer look at fictional narration in contemporary new-media and video art. On show are works by new-media artists born in the decades from the 1960s to the 1980s

The selection features 15 films and multi-channel video installations with a fictional bent and innovative narrative structure, including works by Ulla von Brandenburg, Pierre Huyghe, Sven Johne, Jesper Just, and Yang Fudong. What they all share is a hermetically sealed, immersive visual world, and an outlook with lyrical or utopian potential.

2013 saw the launch of the art-film festival KINO DER KUNST, which garnered international attention from the moment the lights dimmed for the first screening. The 2nd KINO DER KUNST is being held from 22 April to 26 April 2015. The Goetz endowment and the festival provide the perfect opportunity for a major exhibition at both the Pinakothek der Moderne and Museum Brandhorst.
