Lost in Translation is a large-scale exhibition of over one hundred Russian contemporary art works of the past four decades focusing on the historical, political, social, and economical issues related to the process of “translating” a work of art in the age of globalization.
The exhibition presents works which are particularly difficult to decipher for an audience who is not familiar with the “Russian context” they were born in and refer to.
Each work is displayed together with its “expanded translation” which points out and explains the essential references necessary to achieve a clearer understanding of the message conveyed.
