Lies Ros (Hengelo 1952) has spent decades building an archive of everyday objects, ranging from the button box her mother once gave her to used fireworks and cigarette packs. She lives among her treasures, which she keeps at home arranged in boxes, drawers and cabinets.

She collects things to which others attach little or no value. Ros presents them in carefully arranged series, which focus our attention on their appeal as objects. This is her ‘chosen inner world’, the counterpart to ‘the great archive’, her term for society at large. For this exhibition Lies Ros makes her private world public.
