The Ploner Collection, initiated in 1997, contains an elite selection of the finest Austrian and international abstract paintings created after 1960.

Following the death of Heinz Ploner, founder of the collection, his spouse Regina Ploner decided in 2014 to donate major parts of the collection to the Albertina and to the Belvedere in Vienna, as well as to the Joanneum in Graz, so that these works would be preserved in perpetuity while being made accessible to the greatest possible number of viewers.
