A Centennial Exhibition
Bernard Schultze (1915–2005) was a leading exponent of gestural abstract painting and an enormously prolific artist, even in old age.
He created richly detailed, brilliantly colored paintings, drawings, and reliefs that eventually grew into three-dimensional colored sculptures made from wire, textiles, and plastic. The Museum Ludwig, which houses a large part of Schultze’s artistic estate, is paying homage to him on the centenary of his birth.
