The exhibition by the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung is dedicated to PIN. Freunde der Pinakothek der Moderne (formerly ‘Galerie-Verein’) in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

The show opens with a group of works created in 1965 – the year in which PIN. was founded. They represent the Zeitgeist of the era in all its diversity, juxtaposing, for example, works on paper by Georg Baselitz and American Pop Art. The main body of the exhibition follows with a rich selection of outstanding works acquired by PIN. for the Graphische Sammlung between 1991 and 2015, including the 92-part sequence ‘Words which can hear’ (1979) by Joseph Beuys, sketchings from the 1980s and ‘90s by Lucian Freud and a series of prints by Neo Rauch (2006).
