The Great Animal Orchestra was created at the initiative of the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain by the American musician and bioacoustician Bernie Krause and the London-based studio United Visual Artists (UVA).

Krause, investigating the nonhuman origins of music, recorded more than 5,000 hours of animal vocalization and UVA imagined a visual translation of Bernie Krause’s soundscapes. Like this, born the The Great Animal Orchestra, a three dimensional installation to listen and visualize the sounds simultaneously.
