HOSTEM is pleased to present Still Life, an exhibition of work by Studio Potapota and Hidekazu Sogabe.

Studio Potapota's work captures organic realities in economical designs. Shapes of matter and time are rendered in various ways, interlacing with the will of the artist. Their minimalist approach fuses traditional elements with avant-guard ideas, concise, sober and subtly unique. The object in nature becomes a desired symbiosis, echoing transience with modesty and intimacy. Kaori and Hidekazu, as skilful alchemists, transform emotions and matter into meaningful, beautiful and humble work.

Hidekazi Sogabe was born in Osaka in 1975 and has lived and worked in London since 1997. Hidekazi's paintings draw attention to the extra-dimensionality of bodily and cognitive experience outside of time. He observes in everyday life, an abundance of sensorial intensities which transcend the flatness of static visual representation. His most recent works re-imagine his concerns for embodied experience by visually mapping his psycho-sensory engagements with acoustic movement.
