Amelie von Wulffen was born in 1966 and lives in Berlin. She first achieved recognition for her large-scale, collaged wall pieces, which combine drawing, painting, photography, and found material from newspapers and magazines. While the artist has long engaged with the themes of architecture and everyday political life, often grounded in her own family’s biography, one focus of her more recent work is self-portraits. For these new works, she has developed specific painting techniques and an unusual point of view.

Following solo exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou, Paris (2005), the Kunstmuseum Basel, the Kunstverein Duesseldorf (2006), the Kunstraum Innsbruck (2009), and the Portikus Frankfurt (2013), the Munich exhibition will be the first to explore Wulffen’s expanded conception of painting, which includes wall drawings and furniture.
