The House of Chaumet, established in 1780, is representative of the biggest five names in high-end jewellers with exclusive addresses on Place Vendôme, Paris.
As the jeweller commissioned by Napoleon I and Joséphine, Chaumet was popular in European countries among high-class ladies, with pieces worn as symbols of power in ceremonies and at social occasions.
Curated by Henri Loyrette, honorary Director of the Louvre Museum, this Exhibition comes to Japan for the first time ever, to introduce Chaumet's tradition and history over the last 240 years, from the latter half of the eighteenth century to the present age, Bringing refined works of art, in dialogue with art trends such as Romanticism, Japonism, and Art Deco, this exhibition will feature about 300 pieces of jewellry including diamond tiaras and necklaces, as well as drawings and old photographs that have never before been on display.
