ATP ATELIER _ 19 ATP Atelier was founded in 2010 by old friends Jonas Clason and Maj-La Pizzelli. The idea of ATP Atelier was born out of a pas- sion for the things in life that last. For fine crafts- manship and designs strong enough to stand the test of time. A sense of style before fashion. The idea was to create a brand that carried with it a kind of sophisticated, urban ease. Our first collections of shoes have been sandals. Slen- der, luxurious and contemporary, hand-made of the finest leather.Women who have found them tend to wear them all summer. Upgrading jeans and a t-shirt or relaxing a sharp business suit, they bring with them a sense of effortless elegance. What about inspiration? Paris, perhaps more than any other city.Yes, it’s the obvious choice. But come on… it’s Paris. Elegant, noisy and sen- sual.Wide boulevards and narrow back alleys, slow evenings in restaurants. Good food and wine. Friends you love, easy conversation and great ideas. Always staying just a little bit longer. And then there is Otranto.A small medieval Italian town, clinging precariously to a cliff in the south in Puglia.The countryside is mountainous and fresh.The coast lined with beaches, the water crystal clear. It’s the classic Italian town, with cafés and ice cream bars and restaurants, you know the sort. Elegant in a lived-in, comfortable kind of way with everyday life just going on around you. People going about their businesses, being to- gether.We like that.There’s a village just south of town, in a small bay.Take the village road and the restaurant is easy to find, right above the beach. Whitewashed with fluorescent lights and a plastic roof. Paper plates with fried squid, sea urchins, tiny sardines and anchovies caught fresh by local fishermen.A crisp white wine to wash it down with. Simple, elegant and delicious. So what does Otranto have to do with shoes? Everything.This is where Maj-La and Jonas spent a leisurely month with families and friends, a few years ago.Walking through town they found a small studio making sandals. Everyone got a pair and wore little else for the rest of the summer. And that’s what sparked the idea of ATP Atelier. ATP Atelier shoes are hand-made by amazing craftsmen in Italy, using the finest leather and vegetable dyes only.We bring together genuine Italian craftsmanship with a Scandinavian sense of contemporary design.The result is shoes and leather goods with an effortless elegance.
