In
Costarellos SS '17 RTW
collection
,
the power of ethereal, alluring women come
s
to the limelight.
The designer draws inspiration from the heroines in Dante Gabriel Rossetti's
poems and paintings, beautiful in their secretly provocative way. The designer's
creations manage to combine decorum and sensuality, to be austere and
playful at the same time, reminding Irving Penn's masterpiece portraits.
Nevertheless, he never abandons the Greek landscape, history and tradition,
ending up in a collection saturated with calm and classical elegance.
For this new collection
,
Christos Costarellos has used luxurious materials sourced
from the best suppliers in Europe. The extensive use of lace, from guipure to
Chantilly and embroidery patterns
from Greek islands mixed with silk chiffon
creat
ing
classic separates, presented with a twist and girly yet elegant dresses.
The crop tops -sometimes sleeveless, bow-tie or collar neck- are combined with
flattering trumpet-shaped or voluminous skirts.
What follows is a luxurious array of dresses aiming to promote a woman's beauty.
A-lined mini dresses, effortlessly chic and romantically feminine midi-lengths and
to-the-floor dresses having a liquid appeal and floating around the body with a
soft, weightless tailoring.
Either using a bright palette of yellow, pink, fuchsia, electric blue and red or the
classic black and white and the all-time great combination of the two
, the
Costarellos collection combines a timeless sophistication with bold femininity and
sensuality and oozes elegance and glamour.
