WORK FROM HOME
FFIXXED STUDIOS was initiated by Australian artist and designer
Kain Picken and Fiona Lau. Their focus is the production of a
men’s and women’s readymade fashion label that evolves alongside
a range of other art and design related activities. After working
between Berlin, New York and Melbourne they established their own
in-house production studio and residence in Wutong Village at
the foot of the Wutong Mountain in Shenzhen, China.
FFIXXED STUDIOS represents an ongoing approach to constructing
creative working situations rather than reflecting any singular idea
or current aesthetic. They explore different modes of production,
individual styles and appropriated forms that respond tochanging
social and cultural environments. Together these creative strate-
gies articulate the relationship between bodies, garments and their
surrounding environments. For FFIXXED STUDIOS the point is
to make clothing and objects that adapt, respond to and inspire
changing conditions for contemporary living.
