KARSSEN FW19

PAGE 11 PAGE 10 Inspired by the tenement buildings and gritty alleys of the Lower East Side. An eclectic mix of the past remains of the punks, artistic colours, structures, sounds and people. The vibrant energy of the Bowery Ballroom venue where Blondie and other iconic bands took the stage and spent endless lazy days exploring the narrow streets. Colors derive from the colourful houses on Orchard Street, such as a soft pink, muted neutrals mixed with brick red and moss green. Silhouettes in outerwear and woven are feminine and drapy with a lot of attention to soft structures and eclectic fabric mixes. The denim is updated with cool fabric blocked skirts and heavy beaded embroideries. A new stone coloured wash refers to the Lower East Side gritty colours. The sweat is updated with luxurious hoodies and uneven cut hem lines that makes a feminine statement piece. A lot of structures in a soft and cosy handfeel are implemented on our updated knitwear range with new, cool and feminine shapes. In line with the inspiration behind the collection, key graphics include “Hypnotize”, “Fortuna” and “Daddy Cool”. We used a mix of techniques to bring the graphics to life throughout the collection, such as beaded artworks, sequins, embroidery, stitched on tapes, digital and screen print. In keeping with the Zoe Karssen DNA the collection continues to lend and attitude to the wearer with pieces to live fearless and feel confident in.
