MODEM New York / LA Spring Summer 2011

EDITORIAL Graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, artist and director, Walter Pfeiffer (born in 1946) is one of the most important underground personalities of the 1970s. Heir of Wilhelm Von Gloeden and Herbert List, contemporaneous of Larry Clark and Nan Goldin, for the past fourty years his work has been considered the foundation of contemporary photography. His images explore erotic everyday life, sexuality and identity through disguise with subtle elements of humour. Pfeiffer, the gay photography icon, was the protagonist in 2009 “In Love With Beauty” at the Winterthur Fotomuseum. Fascinated by the beauty of youth, Walter Pfeiffer tells us about his continuous research for the ideal masculine beauty. The intimate nature of his images represents a period and society as if from the pages of a diary. In honour of this highly-lauded creative mind the 25th Hyères International photography and fashion festival has curated an exhibition at Villa Noailles. Walter Pfeiffer designed this Modem New York / Los Angeles cover dedicated to the Spring/Summer 2011 collections. Thanks to our clients, partners & teams, a great season for all... Ezio Barbaro
