As its title Cruising Bye suggests, Aline Bouvy's exhibition at MACS is presented as a marauding, in the sense that it is as much about sexual vagrancy and police patrol as it is about stray dogs and queer frolicking. On the horizon of this poetic and transgressive drift is the utopia of a fluid sexuality that the visual artist assimilates less to the pragmatic LGBT militancy than to the permanent criticism of the aesthetic and hygienic codes by which the society watches our bodies and encloses their desires.

Anticipating the end of mortifying inhibitions, her artistic approach proceeds to an uncomplicated eroticization of our environment by integrating depreciated materials, decadent postures, disused territories and disqualified organs. His multidisciplinary palette, which alternates thermoformed Plexiglas, inlaid linoleum or remote-controlled vehicles, surprises the public by its attack on good taste and its casualness in the face of taboos.

Through her references to Clarism, a transgender mysticism founded in the 1920s by the German artist Elisarion, Aline Bouvy also revisits the slow utopian trajectory of a culture turning away from the dominant models of patriarchy and heteronormativity. Exceeding the norms of bourgeois morality and the limits of political correctness, his works even send them an insolent bye bye, sign of an irreversible mutation of society. A true ode to freedom, Aline Bouvy's Cruising Bye exhibition thus takes on the poetic allure of a "wild parade" in which a parade of androgynous policemen (to the sound of sirens) and a witches' shabbat (under belladonna) mingle.
