Born in Toronto, Canada, Collin Thompson lived his formative years Los Angeles before moving to Hong Kong in 2003. Captivated by the movies of Wong Kar-wai during his studies, Collin set off to explore Hong Kong and was immediately captivated by the city, in which he is now based.
In Hong Kong, Collin found an international metropolitan living that manifests the dynamic fusion of East and west cultures, giving birth to an international worldview which infuses the CIPHER brand.

The first CIPHER footwear collection was launched in Holiday 2008, which led to further successes in Spring/Summer 2009, conquering retail stores throughout Tokyo’s Harajuku area, as well as Lane Crawford in Hong Kong. In Autumn/Winter 2010 Cipher has expanded in Hong Kong to Lane Crawford, D-Mop, brothers & sisters and Kapok. Other worldwide stockists include Les Printemps in Paris and retail stores throughout Tokyo.
