German born, Athens based, Greek stylist, photographer, creative director and part time creative consultant, Tassos Sofroniou started his successful career from the age of 14, along with his academic studies with a diploma in Graphic Design and History of Fashion. After a successful career mainly as a fashion stylist in Greece, Tassos relocated to London in 1995. He worked for 3 years as a P.A to his icon and godmother of contemporary style, British stylist Isabella Blow. After a decade of productive and important collaborations with photographers such as Richard Avedon and David La Chapelle amongst others and magazines like The Face, Surface, Interview, British GQ etc, he returned to Greece to continue his styling career this time adding fashion photography to his ID. In February 2010 the first ideas and sketches were drawn and soon after Conquistador was born.
Tassos Sofroniou discovered a gap between luxury and contemporary menswear, with a lack of basics for urban, sophisticated males from 18-40. He wanted to create a new concept with a made-to-measure approach but produced carefully and distributed widely with exquisite tailoring results. His collections are always a blend of primitive and tech, history and innovation, avant-garde and tradition. On a quest for a sharp and clear visual message he also styles and photographs his look books and print ads as well as collaborating with artists. For each of his collection installations he collaborates with acclaimed professionals from areas of music, contemporary dance, modern art and art direction. His motto is "Conquistador is as clear as water. A new urban uniform for the new urban hero".
