Born in Aix-en Provence, France, designer Denis Colomb graduated from the famed I.S.A.D.: Institute Superior Architecture and Design in Milan.

Working as an architect in the 80' and 90', he collaborated on boutiques for fashion designers in Paris, New York and Tokyo, and in 1992 he won the prestigious European IDI Design Award for his design of 30 fashion shops around the world. Denis Colomb's aestetic is a perfect marriage of modernist and centuries old Asian and European techniques, blending pure line and geometric from with real materials.

While practicing architecture, his penchant for exotic travel and his affinity for eastern cultures often drew him to the Far East, where in 1996 he produced his first collection of handwoven Tibetan rugs made in small ateliers in Nepal. He also launched a collection of hand made tiles for Carocim in Aix-en Provence, his place of birth, based on a hundred-year-old French technique. Then in 2003 while working with a local artisan in Nepal, Colomb began experimenting with Mongolian cashmere, the finest in the world, designing the first of his incredible hand loomed blankets. Soon he discovered new workshops, all the while refining texture, color and technique for a group of exquisite scarves, shawls and wraps.

In 2004, his company Denis Colomb lifestyle was formed with his wife and collaborator, Erica Lennard, the renowned photographer. Four years later their company has grown to include a collection of handknitted sweaters and a full range of knitwear, and is sold in the finest international boutiques around the world. When they are not overseeing the design and production of their collections in Nepal, Denis Colomb and Erica Lennard divide their time between Los Angeles and Aix-en Provence with their cat Neptune.

This lifestyle collection of blankets, throws, scarves, shawls and knitwear is guided by designer Denis Colomb's philosophy of comfort and sensuality.

Collaborating with the finest craftmen in Nepal who weaves the threads of the rarest goats (a "down" harvested by combing the animals in April and May to obtain the finest cashmere fibers, which also guarantees maximum warmth) the fleece is delivered in the form of downy clouds, hand spun by women working at home, then brought to several local workshops where artisans weave and finish each piece by hand.

Considered a master colorist, Denis Colomb redefines his palette each season offering over 64 exquisite colors as well a range of very natural organic hues. His eye for the nuance of a color is reflected in the many months that it can take to develop just the right palette.

Our goal is always to have the best of the best...like our 8 ply Polo blanket trimmed in suede or our oversized Nomad shawl with its fine Mongolian herringbone weave, because in this era of mechanization it is a luxury to be able to continue to produce beautiful hand made products.

But while Denis Colomb LIFESTYLE is dedicated to promoting and helping to preserve the finest traditions of quality and workmanship, the partners are also striving in their small way to bring financial aid to the country of Nepal, specificaly by working with fair trade orginizations as well as helping to fund a privately run orphanage. Inspired by their travels and with the hope of bringing together a nerwork of talented friends, their goal is to grow the company to includea full home furnishings line while they continue to evolve their fashion offerings.
