Biography

After graduating from the Esmod Fashion School in Berlin, Alexandra Fischer-Roehler and Johanna Kühl first refined their individual design skills in the high fashion arena. Alexandra's graduation collection was honoured with a presentation at the Moet & Chandon Fashion Debut 2003. Johanna gained her first practical experiences at Vivienne Westwood (London) and then assisted at Martine Sitbon (Paris). In 2004, they teamed together to found the label KAVIAR GAUCHE.

They create must-have bags and conceptual, feminine, avant-garde clothes. The Berlin-based label was launched with a guerrilla fashion show in front of the Paris department store Colette in 2003. Since then, KAVIAR GAUCHE has been a successful presence at an international level.

As early as September 2006, KAVIAR GAUCHE received the London “ON OFF Visionary Award” and its SS07 collection was presented in a runway show at the prestigious London Fashion Week. Immediately following this young success, KAVIAR GAUCHE was nominated for the “Swiss Textiles Award”. The KAVIAR GAUCHE SS08 collection won the “New Generation Fashion Award” at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin.

The Label is continually represented in the press and at the beginning of 2008, KAVIAR GAUCHE was elected under “the 10 most important German Fashion Designers”. KAVIAR GAUCHE are currently stocked in more than 10 countries. To name just a few: you can find KAVIAR GAUCHE in shops including Galeries Lafayette, Koon, Pellini, Iracema, Sauce, Al Sawani, Wut Berlin and many others in Berlin, Rome, London, New York to Zurich, Tokyo, Toronto, Seoul and Dubai.
