Raised near by Dusseldorf, Dorothee Schumacher found her passion at the core of this fashion capital. Fascinated by the large Italian shows and the flair of the fashion business, she jumped at the chance to peek behind the scenes of exclusive labels at an early age, and completed exciting apprenticeships in textile craft in Italy and France.
Having gained valuable experience at renowned fashion companies, she returned to Germany and set about developing her very own creative and multi-dimensional fashion concept. The young designer understands clothes as feelings translated into material. Her first shirt collection stands in pure opposition to the strict business look of the 80s, a comeback of femininity. With the aim of presenting women as beautiful and multi-facetted figures, the pioneer founds the family company SCHUMACHER. Working on an international stage today, women from Tokyo to New York and London to Mannheim enjoy the light-hearted lust for life inherent to her fashion. The matter-of-course nature with which Dorothee Schumacher unites contrasts in her work and high-class fashion follows an extremely free philosophy of life: normality is when opposites unite to become one.
She is a cosmopolitan designer, a businesswoman, a down-to-earth mother of four. A connoisseur in the art of living.
