Biography
Sjaak Hullekes was born in Zierikzee, The Netherlands, on the 8th of October 1981. After finishing his secondary school he went to Arnhem to study fashion design at the ArtEZ institute for Arts and Design. He graduated in 2005, during the first Arnhem Fashion Biennale.

After his graduation he found his company “Arnheim Fashion” together with his life partner and ex-classmate Sebastiaan Kramer (1985). Since January 2006 they both freelance for several (fashion) companies to make their money and get know in the fashion industry. Since then they have been working for Alexander van Slobbe, Christophe Molet, Tommy Hilfiger, State-of-art, Elle pret-a-porter and many more companies.

One year after they found Arnheim Fashion they both introduced their own menswear labels, Sjaak Hullekes and Sebastic, during the Amsterdam International Fashion Week in January 2007. Since that period they focused on their strategy for both labels. After a couple of seasons they both decided to concentrate more on Sjaak Hullekes, and work together to combine their both strengths in one label. Sjaak Hullekes as the creative director and designer, Sebastiaan Kramer as being responsible for business relations, sales and pr.

During the Milan and Paris men’s fashion week, june 2008, they introduced the Sjaak Hullekes brand to the international market at the White Homme and Rendez-vous Homme showrooms. They continued this during the fashion week in January 2009.
Since the spring/summer 2010 fashion week they have a private showroom at rue Chapon in Paris, and are still part of the White Homme showroom in Milan.

For the spring/summer 2010 collection they worked for the first time together with an independent manufacturer from Belgium, to offer better quality of garments. The collections of Sjaak Hullekes are partly made in the Netherlands and partly in Belgium, to guaranty a good knowledge of workmanship to the costumer. Sjaak Hullekes is concentrated on it’s quality very much to show the passion for menswear in each garment.

In november 2009 Sjaak Hullekes won the Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Award 2009. During the same period they have been starting their collaboration with Pressing, as being responsible for the international PR of Sjaak Hullekes.

Company profile
The Sjaak Hullekes label is about passion, craftsmanship and a never-ending nostalgia. Sjaak Hullekes focuses most on details and fabric qualities. Every season he is looking for the best combinations of fabrics to make the collections feel cosy and refined.

He is using natural fabrics (silks, wools, cottons and linens) as a base in his collections, sometimes combined with synthetic fabrics to give the collection an extra modern twist. The main colors of the brand are natural browns, blues, gray's, and whites, always in contrast with a number of more outspoken colors to give the collection the right feeling for the particular season.

The brand is worn by sophisticated men, with a passion for what they wear. Hand stitched detailing is an often used finishing of the Sjaak Hullekes clothing, as-well as the use of French seems in almost every garment.

In his collections Sjaak Hullekes plays with the fragility of the male, his behaviors and modern times. How to escape from the daily cares, and create your own, romanticized, life. What is it that makes a man feeling good with what he is wearing? For Sjaak Hullekes that means focusing on what is important, what is efficient, well made and what at the same time has a refined sense of style. The label brings you, every season, wearable clothing, to be worn by a man of today; a modern dandy...

In January 2010 Sjaak Hullekes will be sold in seven croon-a-song shops throughout Japan, Kabinet in Amsterdam (NL) and at MgH2O in Rotterdam (NL).
