The designer
Tony Cohen, born in the Netherlands, Amsterdam, grew up in the heart of this lively city. This is where his grandmother’s passion was selling vintage second-hand clothing at the famous ‘Waterlooplein- Market’. Some of these vintage pieces are still in his archive. This and the fact that his father was working in women’s fashion for 40 years, somehow led him to the path, which he says is inevitable!
After education and playing professional sports in the US for a brief time, he started making garment dyed clothing in Italy. That reminded him of the early 80’s, when this was popular among admired designers, such as Katherine Hamnett and Jimmy Taverniti.
After working as a designer for several brands, Tony Cohen established the label
TONYCOHEN in 2005. TONYCOHEN immediately got picked up by many international
buyers such as Harvey Nichols, Barneys, Bloomingdales, Al Ostoura, Aïshti and more.
